Karen R. King and JiLon Li were credited in the latest report issued by the Asian American Bar Association of New York titled “Endless Tide: The Continuing Struggle to Overcome Anti-Asian Hate in New York” for their support of the organization’s important work. This report is a continuation of AABANY’s examination of the rise of anti-Asian hate and violence during the COVID-19 pandemic. It chronicles the efforts that have been made in the past year and assesses the impact of those efforts through detailed data collection and analysis of anti-Asian incidents in New York City. Based on these observations, the paper explores the failings of the current legal framework and raises a call to action by elected officials, law enforcement, and community organizations to keep the AAPI community safe in America.
