Elkan Abramowitz In Law360 On Skilling and the Honest Services Fraud Statute

Morvillo Abramowitz Partner Elkan Abramowitz was recently quoted in a Law360 article, “Feds Bounce Back After High Court’s Skilling Blow” (Law360, June 21, 2013), discussing the honest services fraud statute and the recently reduced prison sentence of Enron Corp. CEO Jeffrey Skilling. Abramowitz states, “At the time Skilling came out, there was a fear on the part of the government that prosecutions in the financial area and the political area would be severely curtailed, and their ability to enforce the criminal laws in those areas would be hampered. I think those fears were not realistic.”
